What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in begins at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. While check-in opens at 4:00 PM, we can't guarantee your dome will be ready right at that time — we'll get it available to you as soon as possible. Early check-in is also available for a fee based on availability, and late check-out can be arranged for an additional fee when the schedule allows — just ask our team.

Is there a minimum stay?

Many dates — especially weekends and holidays — require a two-night minimum stay. The exact minimum for your dates is shown during booking.

Do you have quiet hours?

Yes. Quiet hours are between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, so every guest can enjoy the peace of the ridge and the dark mountain skies.

Is Wi-Fi available in the domes?

Yes — complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the domes and in the Entertainment Dome. Cell coverage varies by carrier in the mountains, so we recommend downloading anything you need before you arrive.

Are the domes serviced daily?

The Nest is an eco-friendly resort, so we don't provide daily stay-over housekeeping during your stay — conserving water and energy is part of how we care for this mountain landscape. Our team is happy to bring fresh linens, towels, and supplies or remove trash on request.

Can I stargaze at The Nest?

Stargazing is possible, though The Nest is not designed as a stargazing resort. We're located in a dark-sky zone and our lights are set for dark-sky compliance, but the property is still bright — especially around the parking lot. There are darker areas of the resort guests can walk to for better views of the skies. Please ask our staff for advice on the best viewing areas, and note that the domes themselves are not designed for stargazing.

What's inside each dome?

Each geodesic dome has a queen-size bed, a full-size loft bed, a kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom, heating and air conditioning, and luxury bedding and linens. Most domes sleep up to four adults.

What's in the kitchenette?

Accepted Answer

The kitchenette has a microwave and a mini fridge, plus plates, bowls, coffee and soup cups, drinking glasses, wine glasses, and utensils for four. Please note: open flames, burners, and any cooking or heating devices are NOT allowed in the domes.

Are the domes heated and cooled?

Yes. Every dome has guest-controlled heating and air conditioning, so you stay comfortable in any season — cool summer nights and snowy winter mornings alike.

How does the heating & cooling work?

Accepted Answer

Use the remote and aim it at the center of the HVAC unit located above the bed on the wall. We recommend setting it to 72° on Auto mode — the system will keep you comfortable automatically. You can lower it to 70° or 68°, but please keep Auto mode on so the system can self-regulate. Dropping the AC below 68° can cause condensation to build up on the windows and the HVAC unit, which can lead to dripping onto the bed.

Do you provide bedding and towels?

Yes. All domes come fully stocked with luxury linens, pillows, comforters, blankets, and towels, plus shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom.

Are robes and slippers provided?

Yes — each dome includes two robes and two pairs of slippers. We provide two per dome regardless of the number of guests, so even if your party has four, there are two available to share.

Can I lock my dome?

Yes — every dome is lockable while you're out exploring or settling in for the night. When you're inside the dome, pull the handle up to secure the door. When you're leaving, use your key to activate the lock, then pull the handle up to secure the door.

Are there electrical outlets in the domes?

Yes, each dome has standard electrical outlets for charging devices, using the kitchenette, and all the comforts of home.

How much hot water does the dome have?

Our hot water heaters are eco-friendly 10-gallon tanks, which provide about 10 minutes of hot water use total — that includes all water use, not just the shower. Once it runs out, the tank takes about 15 minutes to reheat. Spacing out showers and hot water use helps keep everyone comfortable.

Where is The Nest located?

The Nest sits high above the town of Black Hawk in the Colorado Rockies — about 40 minutes from Denver along I-70, and roughly 1.5 hours from Denver International Airport.

Do I need a car?

Yes. We don't offer airport shuttles, and a car is the easiest way to reach us and to explore the trails, towns, and scenic drives nearby. The drive up the mountain is part of the experience.

Is there a shuttle?

No. The Black Hawk/Central City Red Bus does not service our area, so you'll need to drive yourselves to the casinos. Uber and Lyft are almost non-existent out here, so we recommend having your own vehicle.

The Nest sits at about 8,550 feet. Drink plenty of water, take it easy on your first day, and pack layers — mountain weather can change quickly and nights cool off even in summer.

The Entertainment Dome is our gathering place — a full kitchen and bar with a wide dinner menu, drinks, and regular movie nights beneath the dome. The Entertainment Dome is open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. Mornings start with breakfast; evenings bring a menu worth slowing down for.

Yes — vegetarian and gluten-friendly options are available upon prior request. Please contact us before your stay, at least a week out, so we can discuss the options available and make sure we have them ready for you.

Yes. Each dome has a kitchenette with a mini fridge for storing your own food and drinks. Please keep food stored inside — local wildlife has a keen sense of smell, so we ask that nothing be left outside.

Meals are not included in the nightly rate. Breakfast is only included if it was purchased with your reservation; otherwise, à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available for purchase in the Entertainment Dome. Reservations aren't required for dining.

While we're in a dark-sky area and our lighting is softer than most resorts, the property is still well lit at night — especially around the parking lot. A small flashlight or headlamp can be handy for stargazing or walking the paths, but you won't need one to get around.

Yes — The Nest is pet friendly. We allow a maximum of 2 per dome, and pets can not be heavier than 50 pounds. There is a $25/pet/night fee and a $250 deposit per pet. The deposit is released after check out as long as there aren't any pet related damages or excessive cleaning. Please let us know about your pet when booking, keep pets leashed around the property, and clean up after them. Service animals are always welcome.

Smoking is not permitted inside the domes. The only smoking area is at the front of the property, the sidewalk along the entrance road, or inside your own vehicle. Please dispose of butts responsibly — fire safety is important at this elevation.
